Book Review:
"The Story of Easter" by Gary Dickinson is a book about the origins and history related to the holiday Easter. The story gives an insight into how we formed are holiday and how we have the "Easter Bunny" as well as how we adopted it and made this furry carrier, a cute spectacle that carries colorful eggs to young, youthful, adolescent, and vibrant children.

The book discusses many things such as origins, creation of as well as the becoming of, "Easter Eggs", "Easter Candy", "Easter Parade", with a well written conclusion summing up the points and facts you just dead as well as concluding his thesis. Gary Dickinson does not end the book with out leaving a honest and beautiful reminder "Easter holiday, take time to remember or even ask yourself, what is the significance we call Easter".

With a brief insight into the book, without giving to much away let me take you in and hopefully inspire more than a passing glance at this please take into the holiday.

What many may not know about Easter Eggs or may do is what they actually represent. Eggs represent fertility , being said often they also represent Jesus, coming from the Christians perspective or point of view ( Gary Dickinson).

Have you always looked at the calendar and wondered what Ash Wednesday was? Or why is there? Where did it originate? And what's its purpose.....well it originated from a day called "Lent", a time where Christians would be given days to prep for Easter, starting on a day we know as "Ash Wednesday" , a day also where they must hand over or give up one object or think that is precious to them.....

One thing I think a lot would like to know is when did we start coloring eggs? And how odd it originate? Well both good questions, to know that you will have read the book, can't give all the fun facts away. I can tell you though that this custom goes as far back as the 19th century! That's far.

Well here it comes candy!!!!! Next to halloween, it is a huge seller for retail stores. Easter comes in second to my favorite holiday, Halloween. You. Curious why? A little tidbit, 90% of parents prepare Easter Baskets for their children! Ah the joys and and spoils of a fun holiday. Kids make sure to be extra good, all out for a grand old basket full of treats.

Find out the significance as well as origins, of things that take place during the holiday such as traditions and customs. Find out about things such as "Easter Races","Easter candy", Easter eggs", and more.

It's a read for the whole family, discovery and learn about a holiday we enjoy. Learn how many cultures and religions helped to shape it. Without them we would not have a creative, fun, inspirational, family valued holiday.

It's a short read 191 estimate on kindle and 34 print pages, medium sized font with short paragraphs. Pictures are helped to create a clear picture as well as support points and facts in the book. Most of images looked great and fitting towards the end of the book, but some were to busy and lost the focus of the object it was intended to depict. In all the book is a nice short history of Easter that the whole family can enjoy, read together or individually.

The Easter Story edition by Gary Dickinson Children eBooks Reviews

I was looking more for the story of Jesus. The book had some interesting facts but my children were not interested in them, they're 6 and 8.
I really enjoyed going through this book about Easter with my nephew. It was fun reading about everything from the origins of the Easter holiday and some of the better known traditions like coloring eggs & Easter egg hunts to the different ways Easter is celebrated by children around the world. We enjoyed looking at all the bright, colorful photos and I think I learned as much as Jack did! One fact that I found amazing was that the US alone produces more than 90 million chocolate bunnies for Easter each year! Imagine!
Although written primarily for the young, I think everyone would benefit from this book.

Regardless of your religious or non-religious beliefs, this book is super informative and shares every aspect of one of the most popular holiday celebrations in the world.

From jelly beans to Faberge eggs, from Ash Wednesday to the Easter Bunny, all of the traditions and products (including the delicious marshmallow Peeps, of course) are explained as to their association with Easter.

I enjoyed reading it, and highly recommend it even to those in the ministry who might like another option for keeping this holiday fun and relevant, while at the same time retaining its spirit and meaning.
Very disappointed with this. It is just a bunch of random musings. From the summary I expected the Easter story along with chapters on how other Easter traditions came to be. That is not this book.
I bought to teach my kids about Easter. I didn't feel it taught much about Jesus. It was more about the bunnies history.
My daughter, who loves to know the hows and whys of things, loves this book. Many of us blindly follow tradition without asking how they came to be; this book explains Easter's origin. I loved that the book is built on the Christian perspective yet delves into the secular celebrations as well. In fact, the beginnings of those secular traditions (I know the resurrection story very well) was interesting to me as well because I learned a couple new facts!
This is a great book about the Story of Easter. My son and I enjoyed learning about the history of Easter and how people throughout the world celebrate the holiday. It was fun to find out that people leave out carrots for the Easter Bunny! We also loved finding out how the Easter Bunny came to be. Recommend this fun book to sit and share with your kids as you get ready to celebrate Easter!
