In the Breakers series, humanity faces not one apocalypse, but two first a lethal pandemic, then a war against those who made the virus.

This collection includes books four, five, and six--over 1000 pages of post-apocalyptic survival.

The Breakers Series Books 46 eBook Edward W Robertson

Overall The Breakers series is great! I snagged books 1-3 as a box set for free on Kindle free bestsellers and now I can't stop reading! The author does an excellent job creating narratives of several different characters throughout each book and tying them all together through chance meetings, locations, or common themes.

Some reviews have stated that the books are disjointed, but if you begin with the first book of the series, I don't think it feels that way at all.

The books are so fast paced that I think once I have finished the entire series I will re-read them all again because I am sure there are things that I missed on the first go round.

Book 4, Reapers, felt somewhat tangential to the series. We follow Ellie and Lucy, two characters that we've not yet seen in the series, and no characters from the previous books make an appearance. Their stories are interesting, however, and the location ties into previous books.

Book 5, Cut Off, was probably my favorite book in the series so far. We get to go back to Ness and Tristan and their stories actually end up intertwining, which was great. I thought Ness's story started out a little dull (maybe I am just not that invested in Ness's character), but it ended up becoming very interesting.

Book 6, Captives, brings us Walt and Thom. Thom is a new character in the series and has a pretty amazing plot twist, which I did not see coming at all. Raina is also back in this book. Another great book in the series!

Now I have to go buy Book 7 and devour it! This is probably the best post-apocalyptic series I have read in a long time!

The Breakers Series Books 46 eBook Edward W Robertson Reviews

I liked the characters, the story, the realistic language, the writing style, and that it never, through 6 books, got boring. I have read the whole series five times and enjoy it each time.
I love post-apocalyptic novels to see how different people would imagine Earth after a major disaster. The Breakers series has very believable and motivated characters who all find their own ways of dealing with a different world. From New York to Hawaii, there are different experiences for each one. This is a very satisfying series and I probably will get the next 2 volumes.
Very entertaining. Author gets stronger as he goes along. Often with a series like this it really peters out but I think this one gets better and tighter as it goes along. The characters grow and develop. Actually had several instances where I was totally surprised by a turn of events.
The one downside would be cussing does increase as well. It doesn't ruin the story but it does limit the audience you might want to recommend it to. Currently finishing book seven and headed for eight )
I enjoyed this collection almost as much as the first one. The series picks up some time after where the last series left off. It is good to read about characters that we met in the previous books, and what happened later. I was glad to see that my favorite grumpy New Yorker wasn't done with his story when reading the epilogue of the second book. The only part that bothered me about the series, and why it didn't get it's fifth star was the editing. There were word replacements where auto-correct (bane of existance) of typos so that one word instead of easily being able to be corrected was transformed into another that confuses the eye until you realize it is a mutated typo. I do not think that this is anything negative toward the writer, but his editor probably relied to heavily on spell-check and not enough on the flow of the story to correct improper word use.
I’ve read the first six books of the Breakers series. The characters come alive in each book such that I miss them when the book ends. It’s great that the characters, well, the ones who survive, reappear throughout the series. I love that Walt and Mia are protagonists in book six just like Book one, but how things have changed. Similarly I enjoyed Ness and Sebastian along with Tristen in Book five. I’m Apprehensively looking forward to reading Book seven and eight because I don’t want the series to end. This is one of the best dystopian series I’ve read.
This was exactly what I expected a continuation of the excellent stories from books 1-3. I enjoyed them very much, and would definitely recommend them to anyone who enjoyed the earlier books. To me, the ultimate test is whether I want to continue reading the series, and I'm definitely planning to read book #7.

That said, I have to drop a star for what was, at times, poor proofreading and/or editing. I don't usually mark down books for that -- most books have a few typos. But sadly, they were numerous enough here to be a distraction while reading, a problem that I didn't have with the first three books.
I've been seduced by Robertson's post apocalyptic Breakers series, but like many other readers, certain characters speak to me more than others. The new characters introduced are okay, and the tie-ins to previous books are nice, but the gems are revisiting Tristan, Ness, Raina, and everybody's savior, Walt. If you liked the first three, getting the next three as a bundle should be a no-brainer. Book 4 is a little removed, but the writing style and setting are the same, and the story line is well worth it, imo. All in all, a very fun series.
